MEET THE MAKERS

DRIFT & PORTER: Matthew and John create the most wholesome and delicious vegan and gluten-free sweets without compromising on ingredients, taste, texture and presentation. Their mission is to go beyond food and create a complete sensory experience from start to finish.  They believe the origin of food is deeply rooted in artistic expression and combine every element of the culinary arts with their love of fashion, antique design and the natural world.

LAWS OF NATURE JEWELRY: Michelle & Suzanne’s jewelry draws inspiration from transforming natural treasures such as coral, twigs, fossils, and minerals to make unique contemporary jewelry. Using the ancient art of lost wax casting; natural specimens are carefully selected for their texture and sculptural qualities and are cast into solid sterling silver, bronze, and gold. Often incorporating hand picked precious and semi-precious gemstones, designs evolve to make wearable and collectible jewelry.

LAURA NEWMARK DESIGNS: During long sojourns in Pondicherry, India, Santa Fe-based designer Laura Newmark established a workshop to create kimonos, kaftans, and ponchos from handwoven Dhakai Jamdani sarees. Jamdani refers to a type of Bangladeshi weaving technique dating as far back as the 15th century. The traditional art of Jamdani weaving, worked on a bamboo loom with the weaver sitting in a trench dug into the ground, has been declared by UNESCO an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Jamdani sarees are known for their softness and their lightweight, feathery texture.

SOPHIE KISSIN JEWELRY: Sophie uses traditional fabrication techniques to create unique accessories using silver, brass, copper, enamel, semiprecious stones, and found objects, creating a mix of delicate and bold pieces inspired by art, art history, and nature. Sophie, a native of St. Paul, MN, now lives and creates in Albuquerque.

HONEY MILLION: Rachel starts with European 100% linen to create wraps and scarves embellished with hand-stitched beads and Milagro charms. Simply sophisticated scarves in naturals, white and indigo to wrap you with love. Rachel makes her scarves right here in Santa Fe.

NiBANNi: These silk and beaded necklaces are designed by Neeti and made by young tribal women in the rural part of Jharkhand in Eastern India. The beads are surrounded by silk with delicate knots between them. Some necklaces are further embellished with colorful silk ties and bows so they can be worn short or long.

FRIDAY EVENING “SIP & SHOP: SPECIAL GUESTS

THE BITTER END BITTERS: The Bitter End is a small producer of cocktail flavorings here in Santa Fe. Their products are all made by hand in small batches from all-natural ingredients. Inventor and founder Bill York used his knowledge of world cuisine, mixology, and science to condense seven world flavors into bottles. Bill and Lauren will be featured during the SIP & SHOP on Friday evening from 5-7pm.

You don’t have to be in the family way to enjoy Preggatinis™: Mixology for the Mom-to-Be, by Santa Fe’s own Natalie Bovis, The Liquid Muse. Natalie’s ahead of the curve in the whole mocktail sensation and her book offers sophisticated, flavorful recipes for libations sans alcohol. At our Sip & Shop, Natalie will be signing books and offering her signature line of Preggatini cocktail glasses, shakers and muddlers. One lucky guest will also win a pair of passes to one of the events at Natalie’s NM Cocktails & Culture Culinary Festival.
